About the Author

Meet Christopher Pike, the pen name of Kevin McFadden, a highly successful author of young adult and children’s thrillers. He was born in New York, but grew up and currently resides in California.

Despite being a college dropout, he tried his hand at various jobs such as factory work, painting houses, and programming computers before finding his calling as a writer.

Initially, McFadden struggled to get his science fiction and adult mystery books published. However, his fortune changed when an editor suggested he try his hand at writing a teen thriller.

This led to the creation of his first hit novel, “Slumber Party” in 1985. The book is about a group of teenagers who encounter strange and violent events during their ski weekend.

It was followed by “Chain Letter” and “Remember Me,” both of which also became bestsellers.

Editoral Review

“Witch World” by Christopher Pike is a gripping, action-packed novel that draws readers in with its supernatural elements and memorable characters. Pike is a well-known author of young adult fiction, and his latest offering exemplifies the best of the genre in terms of style, pacing, and themes.

The novel is set in Salem, Massachusetts, and centers on four teenagers who are all descendants of the notorious witches from the town’s past. The main characters, Wynne, Seth, Abigail, and Max, are likable and relatable young adults who struggle with typical teenage issues, as well as their newfound abilities and their connection to the dark history of Salem.

Pike’s writing is engaging and atmospheric, immersing readers in the world of Witch World with vivid descriptions of the town’s haunted forests and secret caves. The pacing is swift, with plenty of action and suspense to keep readers on the edge of their seats.

One of the strengths of “Witch World” is the way it explores issues of power, responsibility, and morality. As the teenagers come into their own as witches, they must grapple with the consequences of their actions and their impact on the world around them.

Pike deftly handles these weighty themes, weaving them into the fabric of the story without ever overwhelming the reader. While “Witch World” has many strengths, there are a few minor flaws to be found.

Some of the secondary characters could use more development, and there are a few plot points that feel rushed or underdeveloped. However, these flaws are relatively minor in the grand scheme of things, and do not detract significantly from the overall quality of the book.

In conclusion, “Witch World” is a must-read for fans of young adult fiction and supernatural tales. Pike’s storytelling is top-notch, and the themes explored in the novel resonate with readers of all ages.
