About the Author

Vladimir Nikolaevich Megre was a successful entrepreneur and the author of The Ringing Cedars of Russia book series. He grew up spending most of his time with his grandmother, Efrosinia Verkhusha, who was a village healer.

As a teenager, Vladimir visited Father Feodorit, a priest of the Trinity-Sergiyev Monastery, where he saw a picture called “The One and Only,” which he later described in his second book.

At the age of 16, Vladimir left his parents’ home and started an independent life. He worked as a photographer for a service company called Novosibirskoblfoto in Novosibirsk from 1974.

During the Perestroika reforms of the late 1980s, he became the president of the Inter-Regional Association of Siberian Entrepreneurs. In 1994-5, he organized two large trade expeditions with a fleet of river steamers along the River Ob at his own expense, during which he had a life-changing encounter with Anastasia in the Siberian taiga.

Vladimir Megre’s books, with Anastasia as the main character, tell the story of his experiences on these trips. The books have sold over 11 million copies in 20 languages, and in 2011, Megre was awarded the Gusi Peace Prize.

In 1999, he established the Anastasia Foundation for Culture and Creative Support in Vladimir city, and he holds readers’ and press conferences in Russia and other countries.

Megre’s books have inspired the creation of public organizations whose goal is to create Kin’s domains. He plans to write a scenario based on his books.

According to Megre, “Good shall prevail on the earth,” and the water will be the criterion for measuring all things. His meeting with Anastasia transformed his outlook on life, and he is forever grateful for the experience.

Editoral Review

Anastasia by Vladimir Megré is an intriguing book that tells the story of Megré’s encounter with a young woman named Anastasia, who lives in the remote forests of Siberia. Published in 1996, the book offers a unique perspective on spirituality, ecology, and human nature.

Megré is a Russian entrepreneur who stumbled upon Anastasia during a business trip in the Taiga region. He was immediately fascinated by her wisdom, beauty, and knowledge of the natural world.

The book is part autobiography, part philosophical treatise, and part mystical adventure. Megré recounts his conversations with Anastasia, who reveals her remarkable abilities and insights about life, love, and the universe.

The plot follows Megré’s journey of self-discovery as he learns from Anastasia, falls in love with her, and faces the challenges of his own beliefs and values. The setting of the book is mainly in the Siberian wilderness, where Anastasia lives in harmony with the environment and her spiritual beliefs.

The conflicts arise from Megré’s attempts to reconcile Anastasia’s ideas with his own and the skepticism of the outside world.

One of the significant themes of the book is the importance of reconnecting with nature and embracing a simple, sustainable lifestyle.

Anastasia’s views on ecology, organic farming, and natural healing are presented as a revolutionary approach to living that can heal the planet and humankind. The book also explores the potential of human consciousness and the role of love in creating a better world.

Megré’s writing style is engaging and accessible, although at times overly romantic and naive. The characters of Anastasia and Megré are well-developed, and their interactions are captivating.

The plot structure is somewhat disjointed, as the book jumps between philosophical discussions, personal anecdotes, and mystical experiences. However, this also adds to the book’s charm and originality.

Anastasia has been hailed as a cultural phenomenon in Russia and has spawned a movement of followers who embrace Anastasia’s teachings. The book’s popularity is due to its timely message of hope and transformation in a world plagued by environmental, social, and political crises.

At times, the book’s simplicity and idealism can be unrealistic and impractical. It relies on the reader’s suspension of disbelief and acceptance of Anastasia’s supernatural abilities.

Additionally, the book’s emphasis on individualism and rejection of organized religion may not resonate with all readers. Overall, Anastasia is a thought-provoking and inspiring book that challenges us to rethink our relationship with nature and ourselves.

It offers a refreshing perspective on spirituality and human potential that can benefit anyone seeking a deeper understanding of life. The book is recommended to those interested in philosophy, ecology, and spirituality, as well as to those curious about Russia’s cultural landscape.
