Editoral Review

Plaid and Plagiarism by Molly MacRae is an enthralling mystery novel that was first published on December 6, 2016. Molly MacRae, a prolific author, is known for her exceptional writing style and her ability to weave together intricate tales that keep readers engaged.

Plaid and Plagiarism is a cozy mystery that is set in the Scottish Highlands, and it is the first book in the Highland Bookshop Mystery series.

The novel revolves around a group of friends who open a bookshop called Yon Bonnie Books in the small town of Inversgail. The group is made up of four women, who all have different backgrounds and personalities.

Janet, the leader of the group, is a former librarian who has a passion for mysteries. Christine is an artist who also happens to be an expert on Scottish literature.

Tallie is a baker who has a knack for finding trouble, and Summer is a former editor who has a talent for spotting plagiarism. When a famous author comes to town, the group is excited to host a book signing for her.

However, things take a turn for the worse when the author is found dead in the bookshop, and the group is forced to solve the mystery to clear their names.

MacRae has done an excellent job of creating a vivid setting that transports the reader to the Scottish Highlands. The small town of Inversgail is charming, and the descriptions of the countryside are breathtaking.

The characters in the novel are also well-developed, and each one has a unique personality that makes them stand out. The mystery itself is well-plotted, and the clues are cleverly hidden throughout the book.

MacRae has also done a great job of incorporating Scottish history and culture into the story, which adds depth and richness to the novel.

Plaid and Plagiarism is a well-written and engaging mystery novel that will appeal to fans of the cozy mystery genre. The writing style is easy to read, and the pacing is just right.

The characters are likable and relatable, and the mystery is intriguing. However, the book does have some minor flaws.

The ending is a bit predictable, and some readers may find the pacing to be a bit slow at times. Additionally, the book could benefit from a bit more humor to lighten the mood.

Overall, Plaid and Plagiarism is a great book that is well worth reading. It is an excellent choice for anyone who enjoys cozy mysteries, Scottish culture, or books about bookshops.

The novel is well-written, engaging, and entertaining, and it will keep readers guessing until the very end. I highly recommend Plaid and Plagiarism to anyone who is looking for a great mystery novel to read.

I give it a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.
