Editoral Review

The Exodus Towers, by Jason M. Hough, is a thrilling science-fiction novel that will keep readers on the edge of their seats.

Hough, a software developer and self-taught writer, has carved a name for himself in the genre with his series of The Dire Earth books. First published on August 27, 2013, The Exodus Towers immerses readers in an alternate future that feels all too plausible.

The novel picks up where The Darwin Elevator, the first book in the series, left off. Earth’s inhabitants live in three zones, with the first zone being the most exclusive and well-protected.

The only way people can reach the higher tiers is through the use of the mysterious alien artifacts. However, as the artifacts begin to malfunction, a group of daring adventurers decides to scale the towers and investigate their origins.

The Exodus Towers is a fast-paced novel that explores themes of power, bravery, and determination. Hough masterfully brings to life characters with complex personalities, each grappling with their flaws while navigating through difficult situations.

The two main characters, Skyler and Tania, are not your typical protagonists. Both are strong-willed women, but they approach challenges in vastly different ways.

Hough’s writing style is engaging and vivid, bringing to life the vast and dangerous world in which the characters live. The author is incredibly skilled at building tension and suspense, making every chapter a page-turner.

The novel is also full of twists and turns, which will keep readers guessing until the very end. One of the strengths of The Exodus Towers lies in its world-building.

Hough creates a vivid world that feels both futuristic and realistic, with detailed descriptions of the alien artifacts and their effects on those around them. The author weaves in cultural and historical references that give the book depth, making it a fascinating read even for those who are not fans of science fiction.

Although the book is incredibly entertaining and well-written, it has some flaws. The pacing can be a little uneven, with some chapters feeling rushed while others drag on.

Additionally, some readers may find the cliffhanger ending frustrating, as it leaves many plot points unresolved. Despite these minor flaws, The Exodus Towers is an excellent read for fans of science fiction, action, and adventure novels.

It stands out from other books in its genre thanks to its richly developed world and engaging characters, making it a must-read. The book is sure to keep readers engaged and entertained until the very end.

Overall, The Exodus Towers by Jason M. Hough is a fantastic read that will satisfy fans of sci-fi and action alike.

It is a thought-provoking novel that explores complex themes, while also delivering a thrilling and entertaining story. The book deserves a score of 4 out of 5 stars for its engaging plot, compelling characters, and richly realized world.

I strongly recommend this book to anyone looking for a thrilling read that is full of surprises.
