I know it’s been a while since I’ve been in touch, and I apologize for that. I wanted to give you an update on Janet, as I know many of you have been eagerly waiting for her next book.
Over the past year and a half, Janet has been working hard on her latest book while also battling cancer. It is with great sadness that I share the news that she passed away peacefully this past weekend, surrounded by her family.
Janet was a very private person, even with her loved ones, but she always thought of her readers as family. To those of you who have been patient and loyal fans, she loved you all and appreciated your support.
Janet Chapman was an accomplished author who wrote twenty-two contemporary and magical romance novels, all set in her beautiful home state of Maine. She lived with her husband in a cozy log home by a serene lake, where they were surrounded by a variety of wildlife that provided inspiration for her stories.
She was best known for her Highlander Series, which followed the lives of twelfth-century warriors rebuilding their clans in modern-day Maine across three generations. Janet also wrote two spin-off series, Midnight Bay and Spellbound Falls, as well as several contemporary family series set on the coast and in the mountains.
Her books were incredibly popular, with over three million copies sold in six languages and regular appearances on the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists.
When she wasn’t writing (or sometimes even when she should have been writing), Janet and her husband enjoyed traveling throughout Maine in their camper, experiencing all four seasons and enjoying activities like hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. They always kept an eye out for interesting characters – both human and animal – to include in her stories.
Janet will be deeply missed by her loved ones and fans alike. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time.
